Nora, Ginny, and Mary have been close friends since they were children, and have spent their summer vacations together without fail, attending sleepaway camp as a trio. As they have aged, their opportunities to spend time together have dwindled, and thus, when the chance for a summer camp reunion presents itself, they all accept it, albeit with different levels of enthusiasm.[4]
In February 2023, Deadline reported that Diane Keaton, Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard signed on to star in the comedy film, Summer Camp, directed and written by Castille Landon.[4] The following month, Eugene Levy was added to the cast as the love interest of Keaton's character.[5] In April, Beverly D'Angelo, Dennis Haysbert, Nicole Richie, Josh Peck, Betsy Sodaro and Tom Wright were added to the cast.[6]
Principal photography began in North Carolina in April 2023 and wrapped in late May.[7][8] Filming took place primarily at Camp Pinnacle and Blue Ridge Community College in Hendersonville.[7] Producer Dori Rath researched more than 200 summer camps across the United States out of "about 14,500 total summer camps" in the country before choosing Camp Pinnacle. She told the Asheville Citizen-Times, "Camp Pinnacle stood head and shoulders above the rest when it came to production value and a rich, cinematic landscape with exceptional activities-based structures, like their Sky Ropes course".[8] Other filming locations were Wingate University, Nantahala Outdoor Center[8] and UNC Health Pardee.[9] Over 1,000 local extras were hired for the film.[7] The film was in post-production by October 2023.[10]
When Phineas, Ferb, and Perry follow Dr. Doofenshmirtz through his "Otherdimensionator", they find themselves in an alternate universe where a second, truly evil Dr. Doof rules over his Tri-State Area with an army of Normbots. To save his friends from certain doom, Perry has no choice but to make the ultimate sacrifice in revealing his secret identity as Agent P. Phineas and Ferb escape, meet their 2nd dimension selves, and begin their own mission to rescue Perry.[1][2][3][4]
Phineas, Ferb, Perry, Candace, and Dr. Doofenshmirtz, who were all captured by several hovering robots, are about to be fed to a Goozim. Phineas compares their current situation to how the day began and states that everything started out so well that morning.
The scene switches to the beginning of the day, with Phineas and Ferb waking up due to Perry's chattering. The trio does various activities (such as get dressed, brush their teeth), while singing Everything's Better with Perry, a song about how everything is better with their pet. Afterwards, they fall down the stairs next to their parents and reminisce about when they adopted him from the Organization Without a Cool Acronym's animal shelter. Subsequently, they play baseball, launching the balls off of Perry's tail. They then decide to play platypus badminton using two giant platypus-shaped catapults, which can launch objects off their tails like real platypuses.
With the help of their friends Isabella, Buford and Baljeet, they construct them, launch themselves off of the tail of the platypult in a large shuttlecock, and fly through the air. Perry, who has assumed his secret agent role as Agent P, has returned from a mission briefing with Major Monogram and Carl; the latter who has given him several new gadgets. While riding in his new rocket car, Agent P collides with Phineas and Ferb's shuttlecock that changes its course and crashes on the roof of the Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated headquarters, destroying Dr. Doofenshmirtz's latest invention, the Other-Dimension-Inator, which he designed to help him travel to alternate dimensions.
After apologizing to Doof for the damages and finding the idea of traveling to alternate dimensions to be cool, Phineas and Ferb help him rebuild his Other Dimension-inator, much to the horror of an arriving Perry, who must pretend to be a mindless pet in the vicinity of his owners lest they find out hi
